10-20, Winner of HBO’s Best Feature Film at the 2009 Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival, is being released on DVD in October and just like the opening weekend of theatrical released films pre sales are important to independent films. We have to show the distributor there is a need for the film.
10-20 is Terrisha Kearse’s powerful directorial debut. 10-20 gets its title from the Florida law that requires a ten-year minimum sentence for possession of an unlicensed firearm, and twenty years to life if the gun is aimed at a person with the intent to shoot or kill. Inspired by true events in Kearse’s life, this gripping story is very important to share with as many people as you can, it will educate communities and families about the devastation secrets have on our lives.
10-20 tells the story of EJ Henderson (Jah Shams), who discovers at the tender age of thirteen the truth about his life and begins to spiral out of control. He realizes too late that he can only control the present when he learns to deal with the past.
