THE DETROIT MAILMAN

Robert and Lucinda Boyd, in 2009 Co-Founded, The Streets Don’t Love You Back Organization, a 501-C, with a mission to educate against gangs, drugs, violence, and abuse, are proud to announce, their most recent documentary which they have produced called,
“The Detroit Mailman.”

This is the untold story of Vernell Varnado. Aka “Papa Snoop”.
Find out about his roots, growing up in the deep south of Mississippi, serving in the Armed Forces, Army 1st Cavalry Division, surviving Vietnam and receiving 3 Purple Heart awards, to a career in the United States post office as a mail carrier from 1970-1995, he worked 15 years in Los Angeles, then transferred to Detroit and worked 10 years there, He lived on the East side of Detroit and walked the streets during the height of drugs, murder, and mayhem, his area was the same neighborhood as former drug dealer Rob Boyd. Vernell is a celebrity father, whose only child is the legendary rapper/hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg. At age 15 Snoop lived in Detroit, worked at McDonalds, and started rapping there. Vernell retired early to move back to Los Angeles and help his son.

He was behind the scenes for many years, he also had his own music artists as well as appearances in movies, "Make It Rain" (2008) and "All Eye On Me" (2017).

You will see a glimpse of an American hero, a hardworking man, a leader, a friend to many, and a legend in his own right!
