PHOENIX -- Phoenix police are searching for the gunman in a gang-related shooting in southwest Phoenix that sent one man to the hospital early Wednesday morning.
It happened at about 5 a.m. at the Southwest Village apartment complex, which is in the area of 59th Avenue and Van Buren Street.
A woman made the 911 call, saying her husband or boyfriend had been shot. The two were inside their apartment at the time.
Details regarding what led up to the shooting were not immediately available, but investigators do believe it was gang related.
As this point, police have not released a description of the suspect although that person is believed to have gotten away.
The victim was shot twice. His injuries reportedly are not life threatening. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.
Police did say they have responded to several fight calls in the area in recent weeks. They're not sure if this morning's shooting was related to any of those incidents.
