Meyer Lansky (born Majer Suchowlinski, July 4, 1902 – January 15, 1983) was a major figure in organized crime in the U.S. Referred to often as the "Godfather of Godfathers", Lansky, along with Charles Luciano, was responsible for the development of The Commission, the governing body of the Mafia in the U.S. It is also said that Lansky was responsible for Murder, Inc., a group that carried out murders for the crime families.think
