Richard MASERATI RICK Carter Jr.

Life:
I'm the son of the infamous Detroit legend Richard MASERATI RICK Carter Sr. My father was most known for being a famous Drug Dealer in the 80s who lived a flashy life style while making millions of dollars. His death was just as big as his lifestyle because he was assassinated in the hospital while recovering from a gun shot wound. This pivotal event would change hospital regulations forever. His funeral also made newspapers and television headlines because at the time he was buried in a 16,500 Mercedes Benz casket with gold rims and license plate.
Having a father like that I faced many different things growing up in Detroit with that kind of background. My mother Tracy Cowan was also taken away from me at the age of 15 and was sentenced to 20-40 years due to a drug conviction. She did not snitch and is still fighting to prove her innocence. My parents history is what drives me to break the cycle and revive my family name while making my own legacy.

Entrepreneurship:

I have always wanted to have my own business because my family is full of entrepreneurs. It was only right that I follow suite but my business is music and film production. I started 731 entertainment and Carter Family Tree films. I also do motivational speaking and mentor the youth.

Music:

I started doing music in 2005 with my long time friend Curtis. My friend and mentor Terence White taught me how to make beats and showed me the in and outs of the music business. I love making beats but I put the production to the side and focused more on writing music. I have always tried to stay true to myself and the audience by writing about my own life experiences because there is someone out there that went thru similar things as I did growing up.

Musical Inspiration: My brother Kevin Carter, Tupac, Biggie, Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas, Talib Kwali, Mos Def, J Cole, Slum Village.
