Jun. 6--ADELANTO

--San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies and other officials made 21 arrests Friday in Adelanto's first enforcement of an injunction against the Brown Pride Gang.

From 2 p.m. until midnight, Victor Valley sheriff 's station deputies, with assistance from the sheriff 's stations of Hesperia, Apple Valley, Barstow and Victorville, and officers from the San Bernardino County Probation Department, Adelanto Code Enforcement Division and Adelanto Animal Control Division served gang injunction papers to documented members of the BPG throughout the city.

The 21 arrests were for crimes such as possession of narcotics, possession of weapons, grand theft auto, possession of stolen property and probation violations. Several people were arrested in a stolen vehicle, and two BPG members were arrested for fraternizing less than an hour after being served with injunction documents.

T h e p e r m a n e n t injunction allows prosecutors to criminally charge BPG members for violating the injunction, which makes it a crime for members to congregate in public, fraternize with other BPG members or wear gang attire within the safety zone. The safety zone covers Joshua Avenue on the south, just east of Adelanto Road on the east, north of El Mirage Road on the north and a portion of Muskrat Avenue and Otter Avenue on the west.

T h e o p e rat i o n , coordinated by Victor Valley sheriff 's station Gang Officer Greg Winegar, was deemed a success..
