Alleged Gang Member Mother Speaks Out

Alleged Gang Member Mother Speaks Out

Five teenagers accused of attacking a Butler High School student and being gang members had went before a juvenile court judge Friday afternoon. The suspects will be back in court next month for a motion to transfer the case to Superior Court. Count on our Fraendy Clervaud. He talked with one of the suspects’ parents.

Tahlea Manson says this is the first time she can speak publicly on behalf of her son, Brandon Manson.

Manson: “I don’t want to see my son behind bars. I don’t want to see him with shackles on his feet, or none of those kids.”

Manson says her son is not a gang member and that he did not attack 16-year-old Terrence Reese.

Manson: “My son is not a part of anybody’s gang. Brandon has friends, he’s not a troubled child. Brandon doesn’t not cause trouble to anybody. Brandon is a good child.”

Richmond County Sheriff’s Office investigators say Reese was attacked by Manson and four other teenagers, three weeks ago, along Circular Drive.

Tahlea Manson: “Those kids don’t even live on Circular Drive, and they have this thing called the ‘Apple Valley Posse’. My son has never lived in Apple Valley.”

Manson says she wants her son home.

Tahlea Manson: “I have to go to YDC to see my son on Wednesdays and Sundays, for an hour. What’s an hour? I’m used to seeing my son at home, every day, every night.”

This week, Judge Ben Allen allowed one of those suspects to be released to his parents. Prosecutors tried to have that overruled, Friday afternoon, but Judge Willie Saunders upheld Judge Allen’s decision.
