KINGSTON – Seven members of the Sex, Money, Murder Gang and their associates were indicted by an Ulster County grand jury on eight counts in connection with the retaliation murder of a fellow gang member, who they thought was a snitch.
The gang is a subset of the Unified Bloods Nation, known to law enforcement as the Bloods..
Charged with first-degree murder were Trevor Mattis, also known as Little “T”, and Gary Griffin, also known as G Money.
Charged with conspiracy to commit murder were Mattis, Griffin, as well as Jermaine Nicholas, also known as Maino; Jarrin Rankin, also known as Phat Boy; Rondy Russ, also known as Randy Russ and Ski; Amanda Miller, also known as Blazer Bitch; and Damitria Kelley, also known as Meatie.
The grand jury’s investigation began as the result of an execution style slaying of a Kingston man, Charles King, Jr. That stemmed from a shooting on November 21, 2009 on Henry Street in Kingston involving Ranking. Gang members believed that King had cooperated with the police during their investigation into the Henry Street shooting.
Police believe the “hit” was masterminded by Rankin from inside the Ulster County Jail and carried out by Rankin’s fellow game members and their associates.
The indictment also contains charges of witness intimidation, witness tampering, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal facilitation, all felonies.
“There is no greater threat to this community than that presented by this gang’s presence and their criminal activity,” said Ulster County District Attorney Holley Carnright. “This homicide is an unveiled assault against the criminal justice system. By carrying out this slaying, the gang is making the statement that they are above the law.”
