WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Osman "King Ozzy" Nunez, the reputed warlord of the Latin Kings street gang in Newburgh, N.Y., was arrested Friday in Wilkes-Barre by members of the Hudson Valley Safe Streets task force, said FBI Supervisory Senior Resident Agent James Gagliano.
Nunez was one of two suspected Latin Kings who had remained free in the week following a massive raid on gangs in Newburgh. He was among 18 accused Latin Kings named in a federal indictment. Another 60 accused Bloods members were named in a second indictment.
According to the indictment, Nunez held the position of Third Crown in the Latin Kings hierarchy, a role that would have made him responsible for discipline within the gang and attacks on rivals, such as the Bloods.
