Fresno Police are cracking down on one of the city's most dangerous gangs.
Police seized guns and drugs and arrested several members of the 5th street bulldog gang in the area of Butler and Orange Avenue Sunday night.
Undercover officers stopped to talk to some people in front of a house and then noticed a loaded gun on the front seat of a car in the driveway.
An hour long standoff ensued and the group refused to come out of the home.
One man who tried to run away suffered minor injuries after officers shot him with a bean bag shotgun.
Lieutenant Joe Gomez with the Fresno Police Department said, “It's very important to get guns off the street with any gang, but especially this gang. 5th street bulldogs have been involved in a great deal of violence over the years; shootings, homicides...”
A dozen suspected gang members were hiding in that house and several are now behind bars.
The sweep is part of the department's major gang operation.
On Saturday night, Fresno Police arrested dozens of suspected gang members and say they have arrested more than 100 since beginning the operating last month. Police have also impounded 37 vehicles from suspected gang members as well as numerous fire arms.
The crackdown began after a violent weekend in April where three people were killed..
