Woman injured in Ogden gang shooting, police say

A woman was injured in a shooting early Monday in Ogden, and police believe it was gang-related.

The 26-year-old Layton woman was visiting friends in the 3200 block of Stevens Road when she walked outside about 4:30 a.m., said Ogden police Lt. Danielle Croyle.

Multiple shots were fired from a handgun, and one hit her in the side, Croyle said. She was taken to a local hospital. Her injuries weren't thought to be life-threatening.

There were several people at the home, but she was the only one outside of the house, Croyle said. Detectives were investigating how many shooters there were and whether it was a drive-by.

Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related due to previous experience at the house, but don't know if she was the intended target.

"We have a lot of witnesses and civilians who are not being cooperative at this point," Croyle said.
