2 men, 1 woman arrested, setting off major gang investigation

Two men and a woman have been arrested in Newport News and charged with various gang and weapons charges, setting off what police say will be "an extremely large and very lengthy gang investigation."

Randy Parnell Broward and Andy Demingo Broward, 32-year-old twin brothers from Hampton, were arrested, along with Precious Nikita Moore, a 21-year-old woman from Portsmouth.

The charges stem from an investigation that began with reports of gunfire on March 29 in the 500 block of Bellwood Road in Newport News. Police spokesman Lou Thurston said "these arrests have led to the beginning of an extremely large and very lengthy gang investigation," but due to the nature of the investigation he could not provide more details.

Randy Broward is charged with with three counts of conspiracy to commit first degree murder, and one count each of gang participation, gang recruitment, malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, reckless handling of a firearm, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, brandishing a firearm and possession of cocaine.

Andy Broward is charged with one count each of gang participation, gang recruitment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm while in possession of drugs, possession of a schedule I or II narcotic and driving with a suspended operator's license.

Moore is charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit murder and one count each of gang participation and gang recruitment
