27 suspects in custody after shootout between rival biker gangs in Chino Valley

CHINO VALLEY, Ariz. - The investigation into a shootout in Chino Valley involving members of the Hells Angels and rival Vagos motorcycle gangs.

Neighbors reported a barrage of gunfire between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Department they received several phone calls of shots fired in the 2600 block of Yuma Drive around 12:15 p.m.

Chino Valley police detained several suspected motorcycle gang members when they arrived at the scene of the shootout.

A total of 27 suspects have been arrested and booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center facing charges that include attempted homicide, aggravated assault, endangerment, participation in a criminal street gang and unlawful assembly.

There are several crime scene areas in and around the Yuma Drive area. Detectives estimate at least 50 rounds were fired during the shooting.

YCSO PIO Dwight Develyn said five people were injured in the shooting and are being treated for non-life threatening injuries at Phoenix hospitals.

Several agencies are continuing the investigation at the scene of the shooting as they sort out details of those involved in the incident.

One injured gang member was assisted away from the scene in an unknown vehicle and detectives are looking to locate this individual.

Several motorcycles were impounded as part of the investigation, which will continue for the next couple of days.

A police presence will remain in the area as there is talk of more confrontations to come....
